Day 2 Arrive in Cairo

Arrive in Cairo. You will be transported by motor coach to your hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 3 Pyramids/Memphis/Saqqara/Sound & Light Show

Pyramids/Memphis/Saqqara/Sound & Light Show

After breakfast you will visit the great Pyramids and explore the Giza Plateau. See the Sphnix, which combines the head of a human and body of a lion, before enjoying a group lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant. Visit the ancient city of Memphis where you will explore the burial ground of the kings of the 1st and 2nd Dynasty. End your day taking in the sound & light show at the pyramids before dinner and overnight in Cairo.

 

Day 4 Alexandria Day Tour

Alexandria Day Tour

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before departing for the great city of Alexandria. You will begin your day at the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa before visiting an ancient Roman theatre. Next you will make stops at Pompey's Pillar and the Library of Alexandria. Enjoy lunch on the Mediterranean before visiting the Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th-century defensive fortress on the coast. Travel back to Cairo for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 Egyptian Museum/Coptic Cairo

Begin the day at The Egyptian Museum, home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. Explore the treasures of pharaohs, including that of King Tutankhamun. Next you will tour the Hanging Church, built on the southern gate of the ancient Roman fortress, followed by the Ben Ezra Synagogue. After lunch, visit old Cairo, the home of Cairo's Coptic Christian Community. End your day at the St. Sergius and St. Bacchus Church, built in the 4th century and the oldest remaining church in Cairo before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6 Flight to Luxor/Temple of Karnak/Temple of Luxor

Flight to Luxor/Temple of Karnak/Temple of Luxor

Transfer to Cairo airport to fly to Luxor after breakast. Embark on a cruise before arriving at The Temple of Karnak. This is the largest temple complex exer built by man and represents the combined achievement of many generations of ancient builders and Pharaohs.

Travel to Luxor Temple. Built largely by Amenhotep III and Ramese II, the temple's purpose was a setting for the rituals of the festival of Opet. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay aboard the cruise.

Day 7 West Bank/Valley of the Kings/Temple Hatshepsut

West Bank/Valley of the Kings/Temple Hatshepsut

This morning you will start along the West Bank at the Valley of the Kings. This final resting place of Egypt's rulers from the 18th to 20th dynasty includes the tombs of the great Pharoahs Ramses II and King Tutankhamen. Next you will travel to Hatshepsut Temple, one of the most beautiful and well preserved temples of Ancient Egypt. End your day at the Colossi of Memnon before enjoying dinner and an overnight onboard.

Day 8 Edfu/ Kom Ombo/ Aswan

Start your morning visiting the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus within the ancient city of Edfu. Next you will sail to Kom Ombo to see the Temples of Sobek and Haroeris, where in ancient times sacred crocodiles basked in the sun on the riverbank. End your day sailing to Aswan while enjoying a relaxing dinner down the Nile. 

Day 9 Aswan High Dam/ Philae Temple/Unfinished Obelisk

Aswan High Dam/ Philae Temple/Unfinished Obelisk

Explore the Aswan High Dam, constructed across the Nile between 1960 and 1970, and plays a significant effect on culture and economy of Egypt today. Travel to the ancient granite quarries to see the enormous Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Isis rising from the waters of the Nile on the island of Philae. This temple complex was dismantled adn relocated to Agilkia Island as part of the UNESCO Nubia Campaign project before the completion of the Aswan High Dam.

Following lunch, we will travel by camel to visit the monastery. Return to the cruise for dinner and overnight.

Day 10 Aswan/ Island of Elephantine/ Kitchener

Aswan/ Island of Elephantine/ Kitchener

Following breakfast on board, we disembark and check into our hotel. Next you will go to the Islands of Elephantine and Kitchener, which you will visit by felucca sailboat.

Optional: Visit Nubian Villages surrounding Aswan. These villages are painted bright colors of the rainbow and are considered some of the most famous markets for spices in all of Africa.

Day 11 Aswan / Abu Simbel

Aswan / Abu Simbel

Today you will have a free day at in Aswan with the option to visit Abu Simbel Temple. Abu Simbel is where the two temples were carved out of solid rock by Pharaoh Ramses II more than 3000 years ago, and are considered among the most magnificent monuments in the world.

End a day with a return flight and overnight back to Cairo.

Day 12 Free day in Cairo/Farewell Dinner

Free day in Cairo/Farewell Dinner

Start the morning with a leisurely breakfast before checking out of your hotel. Enjoy a free day in Cairo, followed by a farewell dinner overlooking the pyramids.

Relax and reflect on your flight home to the USA.
