Day 1 Depart USA

Day 2 Arrive in Athens

Arrive in Athens

Upon arrival in Athens, you are met by your guide and bus driver. Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3 Athens

Athens

Visit Athens, one of the most glorious cities in the world and the cradle of Western civilization as we know it today. See the ruins of the Parthenon, the Erectheum, and the Propylae. Following these sites, continue to Mars Hill where Paul spoke to the ancient Athenians about the one and only God. From here we have an excellent view of the ancient agora; the former center of the Athenian public life.

After some free time in Plaka, the old town of Athens, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Ancient Corinth

Ancient Corinth

Drive to Corinth, and enjoy seeing the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf. There will be a short stop for pictures, and then we will continue to ancient Corinth. Upon arrival, view the bema where Paul stood before Gallio and preached. We pass by the Ancient Port of Lechaeum and the Port of Cenchrease before heading back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 5 Delphi

Delphi

Travel to Delphi, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Walk the Sacred Way to see the Athenian Treasury, the Temple of Apollo, and the Theatre. Next, make a stop at the museum and explore its collection of ancient art.

Day 6 Meteora

Meteora

After breakfast, begin your trip to Meteora, known for its dramatic scenery. Visit the Meteora Monasteries, perched on massive rocks, dating back to the 14th century. The monasteries contain beautiful Byzantine art, including icons and manuscripts. Only four monasteries remain active today: Megalo Meteora, Moni Varlaam, Moni Aghias Triadas, and Moni Aghiou Stefanou.

Day 7 Veria/ Thessaloniki

Veria/ Thessaloniki

We continue to Veria, where we visit the monument dedicated to Paul and the Bema where he preached to the people. Then, visit the Commemorative Area and Synagogue before heading to Thessaloniki, the 'Queen of the North.' Founded by King Cassandros and named after Alexander the Great's sister, Thessaloniki flourished under the Byzantine Empire. The city tour includes Agia Sofia Church, built in the 8th century and modeled after the church in Istanbul, and St. Demetrios Church, known for its mosaics and frescoes. Visit the crypt of Aghios Demetrios, an archaeological site since 1918, and the monastery of Vlatadon, where Paul stayed.

Day 8 Kavala / Philippi

Kavala / Philippi

Visit the city of Kavala (ancient Neapolis), then continue to Philippi, a Roman garrison town and the chief city of Macedonia. It was here that Paul won his first European convert, Lydia. See the marketplace, where Paul and Silas were brought before the rulers, and the cistern, traditionally identified as the place where St. Paul was imprisoned. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

Day 9 Vergina/ Athens

Vergina/ Athens

After breakfast, depart for Vergina, the ancient first capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia, discovered in the 19th century. Key remains include the monumental palace, dating back to the 11th century B.C., and the royal tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. Vergina is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Athens through the beautiful countryside of Northern and Central Greece.
